La industria del entretenimiento sufre a manos del COVID-19

La expansión del COVID-19, conocido popularmente como coronavirus, terminó por complicar a la industria internacional de contenidos, no solo con la cancelación y reprogramación de casi todos los mercados planificados para la primera mitad de 2020, sino también con las recientes suspensiones de producciones en desarrollo, tanto para televisión como para plataformas digitales e incluso cines.

Además de los anuncios en Estados Unidos, productoras británicas como BBC y Keshet dieron a conocer el cese de las grabaciones de ‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘Line of Duty’, ‘The Witcher’ y ‘Suspicion’.

Si bien en un momento se consideraba que a pesar de que se estaba desarrollando una crisis global, la industria de entretenimiento iba a tener su oportunidad de salir adelante ante una mayor demanda de contenido; esto sólo podría suceder ante la venta de contenidos enlatados, ya que productoras y señales de todo el mundo están cancelando los diferentes procesos, con la mira y prioridad en cuidar la salud de los elencos y equipos de trabajo en los diferentes estudios.

Incluso grandes operaciones están buscando nuevos horizontes, ya que la expansión de la pandemia sigue generando incertidumbre entre los ejecutivos.

El cese de operaciones podría tener grandes consecuencias, sobre todo en Estados Unidos, por lo que cuando Donald Trump declaró estado de emergencia nacional, ejerció su autoridad para proporcionar capital y liquidez a las empresas de medios afectadas y la industria del contenido audiovisual. Parte del fondo de USD 50 mil millones que se liberó para combatir el virus también será usado para estabilizar los mercados que han presentado grandes caídas en los últimos días.
